Workers' compensation insurer Pinnacol Assurance says it will review agent reward practices

DENVER (AP) - The state-chartered workers' compensation insurer Pinnacol Assurance says it will re-evaluate its events for recognizing agents.

The statement Thursday came days after KMGH-TV in Denver reported that CEO Ken Ross and three board members attended a golf trip to Pebble Beach, Calif., this month that was intended to reward top-producing agents.

Gov. Bill Ritter said Thursday that spending money to travel to Pebble Beach demonstrated poor judgment, but he wouldn't say whether he thought Pinnacol leaders should resign. The governor appoints Pinnacol's board but cannot dismiss members.

Ross said Thursday that agent recognition events are standard in the insurance industry but that Pinnacol would re-evaluate such practices.
