Morgan's Bills - 2005 Legislative Session


HB05-1018 - Choice of Doctor (Carroll/Takis): Establish Right for Injured Workers (Rather Than Insurance Companies / Employers) To Choose Their Own Doctor. DEFEATED.

SB05-100 - Homeowners Bill of Rights
(Hagedorn/Carroll): This bill addressed addressed homeowners rights with respect to HOAs including: right to fly flag, political yard signs, audit reviews, disclosures, notice before board meetings, establishing standards, and right to xeriscape. - PASSED & SIGNED INTO LAW.

SB05-052 - Military Family Relief Fund (Jones/Carroll): This bill provides financial assistance to military families facing financial hardship as a result of deployment. You can contribute to this fund through your 2005 Income Tax Check-Off or through direct contribution to the fund. PASSED & SIGNED INTO LAW.

SB05-216 - Whistleblower Protection (Hagedorn/Carroll): This bill provided protection for health care workers reporting substandard medical treatment from retaliatory terminations. DEFEATED.

HB05-1112 - Disability in Workers Comp (Carroll/Shaffer): This bill converted (the much lower) scheduled impairment ratings to (the higher) whole person impairment ratings in workers comp when the injury is so severe as to prevent return to former occupation. DEFEATED.

HB05-1095 - Truth in Trials (Carroll/Hanna): Currently the insurance industry is the only industry that is guaranteed anonymity in our Court system. This secret status in Courts is not permitted for any other person, entity or industry except in truly rare cases. This bill would have removed this artificial secrecy and treated the insurance industry like everyone else.  DEFEATED.

HCR05-1001 - Constitutional Cleanup (Carroll): Ran a concurrent resolution re-defining single subject that would enable a coordinated constitutional budget fix along with the ability to remove or improve prior multi-subject laws passed prior to passage of Single Subject in 1994.  DEFEATED.
