The alarming truth is that the overwhelming majority of sexual assaults on children occur by someone you or your child knows and trusts (73%).
- (67%) Sixty-seven percent of all victims of sexual assault reported to law enforcement agencies were juveniles (under the age of 18); 34% of all victims were under age 12.
- One of every seven victims of sexual assault reported to law enforcement agencies were under age 6.
- Forty percent of the offenders who victimized children under age 6 were juveniles (under the age of 18)

- Minimize Opportunity.
- Talk Openly About It -- Appropriate v. Inappropriate Contact
- Stay Alert: Signs are not always obvious.
- Make a Plan: Who to Call, Your Child's Bests Interests, What You Would Do.
- Act on Suspicions: Failure to Act or Ask Can Lead to Prolongued Abuse, Resentment by the Child.
- Get Involved. Volunteer, Support organizations that fight child sexual abuse.
