Good Government
In the 2006 legislative session we worked on a variety of bills in order to improve the functioning of government.
Lobby Reform (HB 1149 M.Carroll / Tupa): Improves lobbying disclosure laws with better transparency of who lobbyists work for, which bills they are working on, the position (if any) their client(s) are taking on legislation, and any direct financial relationship they have with legislation / lawmakers. This passed the House and Senate and awaits action by the Governor.
Cash Gift Ban (SB 51 Weissmann/Tupa): Prohibits cash gifts to lawmakers, closes office account loophole in campaign finance laws. This passed the House and Senate and awaits action by the Governor.
State Contract - Lobbying Disclosure (SB 88 Hagedorn / M. Carroll): Requires disclosure of lobbying efforts in order to obtain or secure state contracts. This bill died in Senate Appropriations.
