Yay, we won!

Well OK there wasn't a primary in SD 29. But for those of you with inquiring minds we received 3,842 votes yesterday in the primary election.

The District still has a disproportionately low voter registration and low voter turnout. I am committed to improving that.

Thank you to those of you who voted to support me. The general election is but a few months off and that is where we really need you.

This is a reminder that Tues. Aug. 12 is Primary Election Day! If you requested your mail-in and haven't mailed it yet, you should drop in off in person. Tomorrow is the deadline.

Why I am Running for Senate District 29

I am a strong believer in a populist democracy. I believe the charge of the the citizens of the United States is to recognize that American ideals require a commitment to a process of constantly and vigilantly improving and becoming a better version of ourselves. And I want Colorado to be the best example among the 50 states.

The preamble to our constitution says: We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

In short, I think we can do better. I am a second generation Colorado native and I have watched Colorado lose standing in too many important respects. Reforms do not always come easily but we can and must continue to do everything we can to make Colorado a leader among the 50 states. We can and should lead the nation in:

  • creating good jobs that pay a living wage;
  • growing a strong economy;
  • cherishing civil rights and liberties;
  • achieving affordable access to high quality health care;
  • making scientific discoveries, invention, innovation and renewable energies;
  • providing a stellar education;
  • designing accessible public transportation system;
  • being the research capitol of the U.S.;
  • creating thriving communities where families want to raise their children;
  • reducing crime;
  • preserving the environment and our water supply;
  • providing government transparency and accountability.
  • Aurora is a wonderful and diverse community and deserves the very best of what life has to offer. We have some work to do and I would be honored to work for you to achieve these goals. I am running for office because I take to heart the responsibility we have to try to leave the world a better place than we found it.
